Instructional program presented by the American Historical Association, as part of a larger project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The program is hosted by John E. O'Connor of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and features Daniel J. Walkowitz of New York University. It's purpose is to encourage historians and students of history to adopt a less passive, more critical and engaged approach to the study of films and television. It attempts to help students develop visual literacy skills, and examines the ways in which history is represented in films and television. Includes numerous excerpts from a variety of films and newsreels.

Packaged in two generic standard-type "3M Scotch Laser Videodisc" jackets. Nothing resembling a reference number appears anywhere on the jackets or disc labels. The seller I bought these from indicated that there had been rumors that this title had been cancelled and never manufactured. He suspected that this may have been a "test pressing". In fact, both of the jackets on my copy are stamped "WITHDRAWN."
