The picture transfer is identical to the American CAV release. For a THX disc it has a rather high amount of chroma noise, but otherwise has nice colors.

The box set is very handsomely packaged and comes with a few special features. On side 4 after the movie are a pair of trailers, a music video, and dubbed clip of one of the songs. The set has a third disc with a program called "The Making of Aladdin: A Whole New World". Also included in the box is the softcover book "Aladdin: The Making of an Animated Film" by John Culhane that has a great number of drawings and artwork samples. The text is in Japanese, but the book was also released on its own in America with English text. Unfortunately, the American book came out only in hardcover and will not fit into the Japanese box.

As a matter of trivia, the box itself has just enough extra room inside to fit the American CAV laserdisc's entire gatefold jacket. The American disc has rather nice artwork itself, so I personally like to keep both copies of the movie together. This way I can pull out the version without subtitles when I want to watch the film.

LD-G channel 2 is empty but LD-G channel 3 carries info in Japanese about who/what the genie is impersonating.
