Additional Information by blarjotunn (12)   20/05/2009

This listing is for recordable RLV discs. The discs look exactly like regular laserdiscs, except that they are purple or blue colored, just like the recordable side of a DVD+/-R. They function like a CDR, but are 12 inches and once written to are fully compatible with laserdisc players. They record in CAV NTSC and can hold 32 minutes of video per side. These discs are Write Once Read Many (WORM), so once they have been written to they are no longer usable for recording. The only known recorder is the Pioneer VDR-V1000, released in 1992.

Note to Sellers: If the disc is still sealed in its original packaging, list it under as Sealed (10/10); if it is open but still blank, list it as Mint (8/10); if it already has content written to it, list it as Used (6/10). Please accurately categorize the sale of these discs, as blank and recorded discs have completely different applications and are sought by completely different buyers.

RLV discs are red on side 2 only, with side 1 being the normal silver color. Another RLV disc with the Ruby color also exists, but it is single sided with the silver side being covered in tiny dimples.

To tell if a RLV is blank, you can play it on a standard LD player, and it will show a video test color pattern.
