Additional Information by laserking (43)   30/07/2024

This disc is 5 minutes shorter than the Taiwanese release [NV-0057]. A direct side-by-side comparison of the two discs revealed that the difference in running time is primarily due to time-compression on this U.S. release. However, there are also several other differences, as follows:

  • On side one, there is approximately 20 seconds of footage missing from one scene on the Taiwanese disc which is present on this U.S. disc. This is at the beginning of the scene in which Matthew and the other cyborgs find Simon's remains. The missing footage shows the cyborgs riding up and getting off their horses, then picking up Simon's severed head out of the pool of water. This cut removes one line of dialog, "This is all that's left of Simon. Notice the kill strike to the forehead."
  • On side two, there is approximately 50 seconds of footage missing from this U.S. disc during the scene in the cyborgs' camp. The cut occurs right after David says to Nea, "Don't do this." The missing footage shows two of the cyborgs walking together and talking. Several lines of dialog are omitted. The first cyborg says, "There was this girl. She was uncanny, Paul. Fast, dangerous, she knew our techniques." The second cyborg asks, "A woman, with that knowledge?" Then the first cyborg replies, "I'll meet her again, and when I do, the outcome will be fatal. The Master Builder's arrived. I think I need an aspirin." Then the second cyborg laughs. All of this dialog is present on the Taiwanese release.
  • Also on side two, there is approximately 36 seconds of footage missing from this U.S. disc right after Nea shoots Job with the arrow, he falls, and then she starts to climb up the rocks. The missing footage shows Blu kneeling over the charred remains of a cyborg. She whispers, "...Sleep, little demon! Your day is finished! Your precious metal is dry! Black day! Black day! Such a glorious day for us!" The cut ends right after Blu strikes a young man and knocks him to the ground. All of this footage including the dialog is present on the Taiwanese release.
  • The closing credits are different on the two discs. The Taiwanese release has footage from several scenes replayed, identifying the four top-billed cast members with their names in bold typeface, followed by a full credit scroll over a black screen. This U.S. release, however, does not include the replayed footage before the full credit scroll.
