I've read that the ending on this version was cut from the DVD release. To be confirmed.

Confirming the comment by pnes.lds, the LD version is indeed uncut. The US DVD was cut by a few seconds towards the end, where the MC character Max is grabbed by the throat, forced to the ground and assaulted.
