There is an earlier laserdisc release of this movie as [BELL-135] with a different cover art. The earlier pressing only has analog sound while this release was updated to digital. Other than better mastering technology that makes the transfer look a little better than the earlier release i would say it is the same video master. Perhaps they ran it through dvnr?

Although this version (just barely) qualifies as letterboxed widescreen, the picture is still noticeably cropped on the sides.

If this was improperly matted to widescreen it's still widescreen and NOT pan and scan. Still has black bars on top and bottom thus widescreen.
