Although this version has the credit 'Narrated by Roy Scheider', this version is NOT narrated by him. For whatever reason, most video masters of this film made after the early 90s (including Warner's 2001 DVD) contain an unknown actor providing narration. This 'unknown' narration was done during post-production on "Mishima" as a temp track to help Paul Schrader in editing the film. Criterion's 2008 DVD contains Roy Scheider's narration, as do most VHS releases of the film.

Additional Information by cessnaace (32)   13/06/2013

There are two versions of the film, one with English narration by Roy Scheider, the other with Japanese narration by Ken Ogata. The Ogata version also has scenes added by Paul Schrader that were cut out from the original 1985 release. This film has never been officially released in Japan, although the American DVD release is legal to import into Japan

Film's soundtrack has both Japanese and English.
