A Faroudja Super NTSC encoded LaserDisc with adaptive Pre-Filtering that produced greatly reduced Chroma/Luma artifacts, the appearance of higher color resolution (thanks to a slight Constant Luminance Gamma modification) and a much more 'quiet' picture without many of the usual NTSC artifacts.

Image Entertainment planned to release further volumes on disc, as Rhino had on VHS & Beta, but due to poor sales of the LaserDisc, additional disc volumes were cancelled. Less than 1000 copies of "New Wave Hits..." were pressed on LaserDisc and many ended up as punch-out's.

About half the videos on the LaserDisc are presented with the original mono sound due to Image's inability to keep the original stereo tracks in sync with the video.
