The commentary by Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer is NOT the same commentary that is on the current DVD release. While the DVD commentary is Guest, McKean, and Shearer commenting on the movie as their respective characters, the commentary on this release is the three of them as themselves talking about the movie.
