When size does matter..

LaserDiscs can come in several sizes and shapes, not all of them necesserarily compatible with you LD Player.

To keep things simple, I will try to simplify describe sizes/formats from a practical point of view, not from a technical one.

DiscoVision
(1978-1980)
The LaserDisc started its commercial life in the USA first labelled as "DiscoVision" in the form of CAV boxsets for top-loading players. They had numerous replay technical issues and were more expensive to manufacture than initially intended. CLV versions came later.
