This device as able to sample stereo audio at 14 or 16-bit 44kHz and encode it as a video signal that could be recorded on video tape (VHS or Betacam). The tape could they be replayed and the digital audio converted back to stereo.

Some models were converted to allow Digital Coax audio In/Out.
