Paramount Home Video's initial release of this title was manufactured in the USA by DiscoVision Associates. The DiscoVision Associates replication has three sides with the dead side being "green slime". The DiscoVision Associates product was promptly replaced with Pioneer products made in Japan once Pioneer took over North American LaserDisc operations from DiscoVision.

Original theatrical cut.

This version was withdrawn by Paramount circa 1983 or 84 on LD and replaced by the Special Longer Version. The original theatrical cut would never be reissued in the United States by Paramount in P&S again, but only be reissued in widescreen in 1991.

The Pan&Scan transfer, done by DiscoVision, is unlike anything I have seen before (not in a positive way, unfortunately). The only way I can describe it is that the Pan&Scan lags a frame or two behind the picture itself. When a new shot appears onscreen, the picture will usually re-center itself after a split-second. This continues throughout the film, and is very irritating. DiscoVision always had serious difficulties with Pan&Scan transfers, and this film features one of their best efforts. It is good that the telecine operator was trying to optimize this film for 4:3 as much as possible, but the flawed execution gives me a headache.
