My copy came with a letter and a postcard inside the jacket. The letter, which is on Sears Roebuck letterhead, is as follows:

May 15, 1981

Dear Test Participant,

Thank you for agreeing to review the first Sears videodisc catalog. Virtually all of the items found on the enclosed videodisc also appear in the Sears Summer '81 catalog. (If you are a regular Sears catalog shopper, you may have already received the paper version of this catalog.)

To help you locate items easily, and index of easy-to-follow instructions have been included on the backside of the disc-jacket.* You can order merchandise from this catalog as you would with any of our other catalogs. Just call your local Sears store to place your order (The last day to order from this catalog is July 25.)

If your videodisc catalog is or becomes defective in any way, Sears will send you another, free of charge. Call collect, area cod (312) 875-7010 and ask for Kathy Lewandowski, Department 720R. (Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, central daylight savings time.)

Hope you enjoy browsing through your Sears videodisc catalog -- a first of its kind. And thank you for your cooperation in this test.

* Important Notice: Please read the instructions located in the lower right hand corner on the backside of the disc jacket before starting the disc. After pressing the "Play" button, the instructions which will appear on your television screen will tell you to press "Frame Display". This information is incomplete. After pressing the "Frame" button, you must also touch the "Fast" button for a moment. (These instructions apply only when you first activate the videodisc.)

The postcard just re-iterates the section about having a defective disc.
